Selkie and Phoenix AU Plotting
Apr. 3rd, 2017 12:40 pmBecause, you know, we apparently need this.
-Rhy is a phoenix. Phoenix fae are ancient, tend to only have two children if they have any, and do have the whole rebirth through fire thing.
-Some small degree of fire spells and air spells but he's not very good at them because the powers are strongest in phoenix form and towards the end of a lifecycle.
-Rhy's family used to be rulers somewhere, and is still treated as nobility by some fae
-Phoenixes are slightly like Selkie in that they have a cloak of their feathers that they use to transform (out of phoenix form they are mostly human but can summon their cloaks)
-Keeps his feathers/wings on display in a glass case in his library
-God help him, he can't help but have an art motif of phoenixes that are actually paintings he poses for to fae artists
-Has had many different human lovers, but when he leaves as a 'life cycle' passes and he can no longer rely on glamours, he stops relationships
-Walks both in mortal and fae circles
-Actually can only eat fruit in his phoenix form, which he has to spend some hours in that form every week
-Is estranged from his part-fae, part sorcerer brother
-His parents were killed by fae hunters when he was very young, more than a millenium ago
-Phoenixes can absolutely be killed if their ashes are consumed rather than letting them incubate the egg they are reborn from (this imparts a few more decades of life to the consumer)
-Grows back to their 'mature' form within weeks, so lots of staged deaths or possibly just being 'sick' for a while.

Date: 2020-04-06 03:46 pm (UTC)-Mansion has an expansive green house meant to recreate more of Rhy's native environment. Has a secret area with a large heated sand pit for him to sand bathe in.
-Phoenixes are most closely related to corvids, very smart, loves shinies
-When ill or emotionally less than good, his feathers get very drab
-Kel does NOT approve of Rhy's new infatuation
-Holding a piece of Rhy allows one through his wards: he gave Llewellyn some of his down
-Has multiple pools on his estate, both fresh and salt water, to make the Seelie of his courts more comfortable.
-There are hidden areas of Rhy's estate, only accessible by magic, that allow him and other fae to hide
-Rhy is jealous of Llewellyn's freedom as a skin changer. Rhy can only fly safely in his greenhouse. For a king and a bird his freedom is HIGHLY reduced.
